Keep it free for the next person.
Every recitation timed on this site costs real money, for the few minutes it runs. There are no adverts, nothing is sold, and nothing is kept. Donations are the whole of the income.
A donation, in hours of recitation
The figures below are worked out from what this site actually pays and the speed it actually runs at, so they move when those move. Pick any amount you like on the next page — these are just a sense of scale.
For scale: this month's entire budget is $10. One donation can be the whole month.
This month's capacity
0% of $10 used. Resets October 1. New recordings are being accepted.
What the money is spent on
- Compute. The only meaningful cost. A machine wakes when there is work, transcribes, and stops — an idle day costs nothing.
- Storage and bandwidth. Small, because a recording and its subtitles are deleted 12 hours after the job finishes.
- Nothing else. No salaries, no adverts, and no analytics you have to consent to.
When donations arrive, the monthly ceiling goes up and the daily allowance everyone gets goes up with it. That is the only thing that changes.
Other ways to help
- Tell someone who teaches tajwid, edits recitation videos, or makes subtitles. The people this saves the most time for do not know it exists.
- Correct a timing. Every result page lets you nudge a word boundary the alignment got wrong — it makes your own files better immediately.
- Run it yourself. The whole pipeline is a command-line tool and a local web interface; a recitation you transcribe on your own machine costs this site nothing at all.
What a donation does not buy
It does not buy your recording being kept longer, priority that pushes somebody else down the queue while capacity is short, or any claim over the Qur'an text — which is not ours to sell. It is a contribution to a shared ceiling, not a purchase.
Donations are handled off this site entirely. No card number ever reaches here, and nothing about a donation is stored beyond what is needed to thank you.
